Welcome to Foxy's Firearms Guide. This webpage is intended to act as a source of information for the person who has a casual interest in military firearms, and would like to learn more about certain models of firearmsand to clear up some common misconceptions about these weapons. In addition, I will also provide information on certain tactical tools, such as body armor and other types of equipment commonly carried by either military troops or special weapons and tactics teams. This web page is split up into several sections: This page is not intended to be a display of my (nonexistent) web page design skills. As such, it is laid out rather simply. If anyone would like to come in and volunteer to be a web page maker for me, I'd gladly accept the help. Until then, you will have to live with the simple layout.

News and Updates:

16 November 2001: Wow, long time, no updates! Sorry about that, but I've been busy with school (which I'm sure you've all heard before). I've updated the M4 Carbine page, added a page on the M4 Spectre, updated the Links, and added to my Personal Firearms section. The SKS got sold, too.

19 August 2001: Just thought that I'd point out that my SKS is for sale. Check it out if you're interested in buying it! Just $300 for the rifle and lots of accessories.

16 August 2001: Started on a page dedicated to the SureFire 8NX combat flashlight. I think it's a great flashlight, easily the brightest one that I've ever used - and this is the 'value' low end flashlight! I also decided to organize all of the stuff on the weapons page alphabetically by manufacturer.

13 August 2001: Added a few more links to the Link page. Also figured out that it wasn't Freeservers who was being dumb with the Weapons page; it was me. Sorry!

8 August 2001: Added a links to firearm webpages; hopefully you will find them useful. Also made some minor changes to the Body Armor page; I indicated which rounds are NIJ standards, and also included a link to the NIJ testing standards. Freeservers seems to be refusing to display the new Weapons page, but I will keep trying to upload it successfully.

7 August 2001: I updated the homepage to reflect the movement of this page away from the game of Counter-Strike, and into more general firearms-related matters. I moved the Body Armor page to the Misconceptions page, and I modified the Weapons page. I also made a page for the PASGT helmet that seems to be ubiquitous in SWAT operations.

26 July 2001: My sincere apologizes to all who have been wondering where I've been for the past two months. The reason for the long time between updates was twofold: Firstly, I do this webpage on a old IBM 760 laptop. The power supply for the laptop died, and thus, I've been unable to access all of my work! I just recieved a new power supply today, so that problem is solved. Secondly, I was at Lackland AFB for the past month, doing Air Force ROTC Field Training - 28 days of fun in the sun. Obviously, I was unable to do anything relating to this page while at boot camp. I promise that the next time I am going to be gone for so long, I will put up a mention of it beforehand.

Another thing of mention: To be absolutely honest, the last time I've played Counter-Strike was quite a long time ago. As a result, I am going to be modifying these pages pretty shortly. Namely, I am going to be removing most of the CS references on these pages, as well as removing the "CS Mistakes" on each individual weapon page. Nothing against CS, but I feel that if I haven't played the game in months and months, I shouldn't be talking about it. Hopefully, this will also allow me to branch out more fearlessly into other weapons and gear that exists in our world.

24 May 2001: Added a few more images to " Personal Firearms" page.

2 May 2001: Today, I added the definition of a 'grain' to the Definitions page. I worked a bit on the ' Personal Firearms' page, adding more information to the weapons. I had to leave most of my equipment back in Arizona, unfortunately, but I'll try to put in generic pictures as soon as I can. Fear not, for I will be working hard on more weapon descriptions as soon as I can!

30 April 2001: I've got a system for uploading the webpage to the Freeservers server, and I'm off for the summer, so I've begin to work on the webpage again! Today I've worked extensively on the Body Armor page, and started a Defintions of Common Firearms Terms page. I figured that I would eventually have a lot of pages like "What's a Gauge?" and "What's a MOA?" so I decided to collate all of them onto a single page. However, although I get to work on the webpage a lot during summer, I've gone back to California, and so I had to leave all of my evil assault weapons in Arizona, so I won't get a chance to actually shoot for a while. :(

25 April 2001: Finally got around to updating. School is ending in a few days, so I will be able to update more frequently then. In the meantime, I just worked on the About page a little bit - I decided to put some of the large images on a page by themselves so the page loads more quickly. In addition, I was pointed to a very nice page detailing all of the intricacies of Class III weaponry by Mark Cook, a firearms instructor for Willamette Small Arms Academy and the Full-Auto director for the Albany Rifle & Pistol Club in Albany, Oregon. Check it out here.

15 Feb 2001: Sorry for the long delay between updates. I added a video of myself firing a recently-acquired Baby Eagle pistol on the About page. I'm having problems connecting to the Freeservers server to update. So look for a change of address soon.

18 January 2001: Worked on the Para page. Turns out that there are TWO shortened modifications of the M249 - the Para, and the SPW. Every M249 in First Force Recon Marines has the Para modification, as I've found out. My bad on the erronous information.

16 January 2001: Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I've started up the Spring semester of college, and I've been busy with classes and buying ultra-expensive books for classes. Anyways, I've updated the P90's page with realism issues, I've worked on the M4A1 carbine's page, and I've added my suggestions for weapons that should be added to CS. I also added a page that gives you guidelines for posting suggestions. I also added the question "What's a gauge?"

3 January 2001: Added much information to the P90 page. Go check it out; I promise you'll learn something!

2 January 2001: Worked on the TMP webpage, filling it out with a bit of information. I really like TMPs, so expect more information to appear there soon. Also added images to the M10 page.

1 January 2001: Happy New Years, again. Updated the AUG and M3S90 pages with new images. I will try to work on more content ASAP, but I'm kind of seperated from most of my sources at the moment. Sorry. Also, I'll try to upload the changes, but really, I think that'll happen after I get back to school.

31 December 2000: Yay, Happy New Year's, though you'll probably have a bad hangover, and broken three resolutions by the time I get this uploaded. Anyways, I did some minor modifications to the realism issues of the MP5N and the UMP45 today. Also, thanks toTrayvessio's good information-finding skills, I now know that the telescopic sight on a G3/SG1 is a Zeiss 1.5-6x variable zoom scope, and the information has been duly noted into the G3/SG1 page. I also added minor bits of information to various pages, including the M96G and the AUG page.

30 December 2000: Well, I'm finally back from Japan! I had a marvelous time there, but I also had zero time to work on the webpage. Sorry guys. In Japan, there is almost no chance for anyone to work with anything resembling a actual weapon. Even the gun magazines that they have over there have maybe an article or two on real weapons, and focus mainly on airsoft weapons - something that I can't quite picture an American gun rag doing. Something else that appealed to my sense of humor: At a arcade, I had the opportunity to try out "Silent Scope 2," one of those light gun type games where you hold a gun and shoot it at bad guys on the TV. This particular game, instead of giving you a pistol like in "Area 51," gave you a PSG-1 type rifle, and put you in the role of a sniper. The game itself wasn't TERRIBLY realistic (you could see the bullet fly and hit your target, for example, but the bullet looked like a 155mm bullet from an artillery piece or something!), but at least you got to point a gun at targets and shoot stuff. Anyways, I played the game (200 yen for a single play; that's slightly under $2 at current exchange rates), and did so-so, in my mind. At an American Arcade, I doubt I had played well enough to even appear on the top ten. However, I had more than doubled second place's score in Japan! I guess Air Soft isn't THAT good of a training product :)

Anyway, sorry for the rambling - I just had a really nice time in Japan. I updated the "How Barrel Length affects Muzzle Velocity" page with a bit of information on new, fast burning powder that might allow short-barreled carbines to compete favorably with full length rifles. Interesting stuff, really, and I'll add more information as I find it. I also updated the AK-47 page with close ups of the safety area, courtesy of photos from the ever-helpful General Tso-so. The "What's the Difference Between Single action and Double Action" page has finally been worked on, and a new section on the rules of gun safety has also been added.

16 December 2000: Finally getting a chance to upload. Uploaded all changes made on 14 December and 15 December. Also, Mach5 of the HI forums and also of QCP fame has made me a rather spiffy new logo. Much better than that plain red text, eh? :) Thanks Mach5! I also got a very gracious offer from Channel_0 to help me out with the HTML of my webpage. I want to get all of the information up first, or at least most of it, before working on the looks. However, look for a new, spiffy layout sometime in the future. By the way, after having a cable modem for a few years, and then going a year and a half on a university's T3 line, 28.8 is miserable. My modem keeps disconnecting every few minutes.

15 December 2000: Worked more on the Body Armor section of the webpage, and created the "What's a MOA?" page. General Tso-so of QCP and HI I/S and G/A fame seems to have identified the 'mystery .22' pistol that I had mentioned on my "About" page. I am pretty sure now that it was a S&W 422 - at least as best as I can remember :) Thanks, GTS! I also added a few interesting pictures of me - they may be large, but I'll try to reduce the file size as soon as I get to a computer with Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. 28.8'ers beware. I also got the chance to play Counter-Strike in a long time - damn you finals! I noticed a few errors in the weapons, and thus, the MP5N and the Desert Eagle pages have been updated.

14 December 2000: Added a new gun question - what effect does barrel length have upon muzzle velocity of 5.56 caliber weapons? I will probably be renaming 'Misconceptions' to 'Common Gun Questions' in the near future. Also started work on the Body Armor webpage, but that's going to take me a while. In other news, I'm at home now, away from my university's network connection. Updates might be slow in coming. I'll see when I can actually upload this update to the internet.

13 December 2000: Updated the AK-47 page with a few new images, and added the Accuracy International AWM skeleton page (basic info only) Only have to do the grenades and body armor, and I'll have all of the skeleton pages up; means I have to start writing the real information :). I'll be leaving for home tomorrow, for Christmas Vacation. I may not have internet access, so it may be a while (January 5 or so) before I can update again. Hopefully, I'll be able to work on the pages offline, and do a huge update when I get back.

12 December 2000: Added M249 'Para' page, complete information, Steyr Scout skeleton page (basic info only), and a slew of new ideas and suggestions. After I finish up with the weapons, I'm probably going to work on the Ideas and Suggestions. That means that I'm probably going to have to eventually put up information page on each of the suggested weapons, which will probably take me a while. We'll have to see how this all goes.

10 December 2000: I've decided to put up a news section, and hopefully, I'll remember to add to this section whenever I add to or update my page. I'm going to try to concentrate on finishing up the Weapons section first, and getting as much information as I can on each of the guns in Counter-Strike. I'm also adding small counters to the bottom of the pages, updating all of the META tags, and other little housekeeping chores. Oddly enough, when I was checking my site stats, the Weapons page seemed to be the most popular - out of 140+ hits, over 100 were to the Weapons page. It also seems that people either visit one page, or they visit them all - the most popular number of page views was 1, 6, and then 20. Very interesting; I've never had a webpage that could track stats like this, so it's kind of interesting to me. As always, I crave feedback. If you don't think I'm doing a good job, or there are details on the weapons that you'd like for me to include, PLEASE let me know. It gives me focus to my work.
